This course focuses on developing sound statistical knowledge and skills for public health applications through lectures, readings, and computer labs, allowing “hands-on” analysis of real datasets. This involves identifying the most appropriate statistical techniques and modelling, applying those techniques using the statistical computing package SPSS, WarpPls, SmartPls, etc., and interpreting the outputs. Students will be exposed to a higher level of statistical analysis, such as factor analysis, including structural equation modelling, generalized equation modelling, cluster analysis, and survival analysis.

This is an advanced course for family health. It includes 14 main units as listed in the learning units which follow the life cycle and life course approach. The candidates will be exposed to family health programme implementation and policy. The competencies expected from this course are analysing current health problems, identifying public health crises, and evaluating public health programmes. The training will be conducted at UNIMAS, state and divisional health office and other related agencies. The conduct of the course includes lectures, seminars, field visits, data analysis and data evaluation, write-up reports and others.

This course aims to produce a public health specialist competent in completing medical research related to public health. The total duration to complete public health research is six semesters, divided into six courses, i.e., Public Health Research 1 to 6, one course to be completed each semester. This course is purely research-based, and the conduct of this course will be mainly self-directed learning with supervisory guidance. The candidate is required to develop, conduct, complete, and present a dissertation related to the research topic in the field of public health during this course. This course is the 2nd of the six courses and covers pretesting and validating instruments and attaining ethical approval.
